Today's song of honour is the soundtrack from the movie "The Lovely Bones", "Lovely Bones" (originall isn't it?)
Well the band is called Dead and Divine, and I dont know if they're some kind of christian-core but they sure write good music. (not that christian core doesnt sound good in general, I mean, what about Underoath ffs. It's just too bad that they have to labellize the genre after some religious crap.)
Anyways! I surely like this song though , and my favourite part of the lyrics? "Lets shoot some drugs and fall in love"
Today's persona, is a cute singer called Meaghan Smith. She caught her dream just a few years ago, despite that she loved singing even as a little girl. I stept onto her music via the movie "500 days of summer" (wonderful, romantic movie btw).
Her music is a romantic blend of folk, piano (the sound of piano is a genre of its own), perhaps a little bit of jazz, swing and hm even indie. It gives you that "singing in the rain" feeling, but it doesnt have to rain though...I think you should give her a try, you will enjoy (unless you are on of those not so openminded peeps)
Her own written album , "The Cricket's Orchestra" which was released last year became a huge success, and after that followed the OST of the "500 days of summer", "Here comes your man".
My personal favourite from her album is "You got out" but "Here comes your man" is an equal winner.
Well well, It's been a while...Way to long...Ive been kinda bussy with other 'important" things and perhaps thats why I left my blog to rest.
Many things have happened since the last time I wrote, things that have affected my Music..not in a bad way though. Just some changes that have occured.
I saw "The Notebook", with Ryan Gosling and Rachel Mc Adams, and realized how romantic and full of emotions love was back then, it had nothing to do with the Contemporary "loves". And so, I fell in love with the 50s. The music, the style, everything. It's funny how a style can be re-reflected into another age and be totally different, for e.g. Rockabilly Dame style. Or the famous Myspace site, "Suicide Girls".
Anyway, enoough with the blahblah.
I will today introduce you to a very speciall artist, Connie Francis. Connie, was born in Italy and her real name was Concetta Rosa Maria Franconera ( perhaps that's why she use an "alias"). Her song "Freddy" led her to an asssignment with a record label, because the owner's son was named Freddy. ( nice to know that, -Hey we didn't take you because of your talent...)anyways.
Here you have her top 5 (by my opinion).
Fallin' (1958) !!! (it's sooo 70's but yet 10 years ahead)
Many years Ago (1960)
My happiness (1959)
You're gonna miss me (1959)
Breaking In a brand New Broken heart (1961)
And then of course there's the famous "Stupid Cupid"
They've been a band for a year and a half. A sound of mainstream but at the same time original. WATO,Great vocals and some kind of harmony in their "screaming". They are working on their first full-length album which will be released this forthcoming year. Want to see them? Take the chanse on their current head-line tour!
They seem to be the right ingredients for a popular "boy"-band. Guess that many girls are screaming on their live.
