Who needs a drummer, when there's TAP DANCING?

Implementing beats from various objects in our life's is nowdays a fact. Heartbeats, horns, breaks, so many sounds in our everyday life...So many rythms, so many beats.

I think that Tilly and the Wall ( name inspired by the children's book " Tillie and the wall" by Leo Lionni) got the point, and followed the example. Who needs a drummer when we've got our cool tap dancing girl Jamie??

This indie pop band was formed 2001 in Ohama (nebraska) after mixing it's band members from various splitted groups and is signed to Team Love Records.

They've got four released albums, with the latest one "O" released in 2008. In 2006 they appeared in Late show with David Letterman and they've contributed in the OST of "Whip It" with the song Pot Kettle Back.

Goodmorning Coffe with Lykke Li and Kleerup

I'm naked
I'm numb
I'm stupid
I'm staying
And if Cupid's got a gun, then he's shootin'

Lights black; heads bang
You're my drug
We live it
You're drunk, you need it
Real love, I'll give it

So we're bound to linger on
We drink the fatal drop
Then love until we bleed
Then fall apart in parts

You wasted your times
On my heart
You've burned
And if bridges gotta fall, then you'll fall, too

Doors slam
Lights black
You're gone
Come back
Stay gone
Stay clean
I need you to need me
So we're bound to linger on
We drink the fatal drop
Then love until we bleed
Then fall apart in parts

As cities Burn

Starting in 2002 with a post-rock sound As Cities Burn slowly (after 3 albums and 3 Ep's to be exact) turned into a indie-rock band. Thing is that they might have changed genre, but their music is still surrounded with a feeling of melancholy. The vocals, sounding like trashed screams at times, gives you a feeling of desparation.

In 2005 they released their first album , Son I love you at your Darkest, after beeing signed 2 years earlier by Solid State records. In 2006 they toured with among others Protest the Hero and The Bleed.
Oh, and a small detail, they have to be labeled as "christian". If you visit their myspace, you'll see that they "Thank Y-----". Anyway if you get annoyed but that, just listen to the music and forget the lyrics. (joking).

Enough with all the talking, my favourite song-chart from their latest and LAST album (they split in 2009) Hell, or High water follows.

Song of the Day. Koop- Koop Island Blues

Hello my love
It's getting cold on this island
I'm sad alone
I'm so sad on my own
The truth is
We were much too young
Now I'm looking for you
Or anyone like you
We said goodbye
With the smile on our faces
Now you're alone
You're so sad on your own
The truth is
We run out of time
Now you’re looking for me
Or anyone like me

Freddy HC Madball?

I've been off for a while, due to university "obligations". As time goes by I believe that people change, People's feeling, thoughts, values, routines. Some things have changed, and I've turned back to the times where I enjoyed myself listening to Hip Hop. Or why label it? Freddy Madball, brother of the singer in Agnostic Front Roger Miret, grew up in a mixed setting of HC life and hip hop expressions. The road was long, but after collaborating with DJ Stress, everything went to it's place.

Freddy Madball- Dark of the night

In the name of the Father and Son, the Holy Spirit and this gun
That I protect my fam with in case my prayers don’t protect us son
Is there a chosen one? Chosen few? Maybe none
Maybe when you’re dead it’s done
No sun, no moon, no light, no outcome
I love the thought of being reunited with my fam
Sounds like a scam sometimes though so here I stand
Crossing hands, a man trying to understand
Whose book of plans should I follow if they’re written by hands
Just like my own, human to the bone
We are all flawed and scarred, nobody wants to die alone
I sit upon a throne, fearless in my home
My hood, the city and world that I roam, what about the unknown?
I’m not a clone to follow a nicely written poem
Scriptures structured to make you comb through your thoughts, your dome
I can’t lead you home but I will ask the questions
I’m not an atheist, this is just a true confession

In the dark of the night I wonder why I was placed here
My family told me put my faith in God and face fear
For some reason I ain’t wanna put my faith there
And going to church I saw nothing but hate there
I ain’t understand how everyone else could be wrong
And I ain’t wanna be like everyone else and conform
Yeah so I had a discussion with moms
And that’s around the same time I discovered Islam
The first time that I had peace in my life
The first time I had a reason and a beacon of light
And if another human being think that Jesus the light
I don’t argue, I just hope that they have peace in their life
There’s a war going on outside no man is safe from
Every religion have a god but it’s the same one
Religion’s just a tool to divide us and they won
I feel that God been standing beside me since day one

Does God work for NASA?

Today's triymph goes to "God is an Astronaut" . Three are the bandmembers, and 3 are the words to discribe their music.
1) Post-rock
2) Emotions
3) Expressive
With 5 LP's in their pocket and the next release scheduled on May 17th 2010, God Is an Astronaut has managed to reach to success.
My personal top 3?
  • Sunrise in Aries (Lp "Far from refuge", 2007)
  • Snowfall (Lp "God is an Astronaut",2008)
  • All is Violent, All is bright ( Lp "All is Violent, All is bright", 2005)

Expressing emotions through music is not difficult for this 3 piece band. So relax, sitt back in and enjoy.

We must open our wings.

Regarding the absolutely tragic loss of 3 lives due to violent actions during the general demostration yesterday, I must say that we've reached the bottom.
People get killed for what? Well it's definitely not in the name of freedom. In the name of money perhaps. I want to share my deep sorrow, to this three families, to their work colleagues, to their friends.
We should act like one fist, not like a duzzin, serving the profits and gains of various juggernauts and political parties. It's our future ffs. It's our childrens future. Our childrens' children future.
I used to be proud for beeing greek. I used to think that the ancient philosophy and perhaps the "seeking gene" of the ancient greeks still rests within us. It's time to turn towards other paths. It's time to get our sences together and act responsibly, logically and effectivelly. Because when the goal is just to put your foot down for one day, and especially when your goal is to put it down wearing the wrong shoes, people die.
Lets fly away, like daedalus once did but, we're gonna stay away from the sun. Thrice say it better than me.

R.I.P.

Greece+France= Desplat

Alexandre Desplat, grew up in a classically influenced set with his greek mom and his french dad. His mixture of greek coulture, french romance and american jazz, gav him the opportunity to compose music for over 50 european movies.

In 2003 he won a Golden Globe.
In 2007 he won an Academy Award.

and the success continiues.

Dead and Divine

Today's song of honour is the soundtrack from the movie "The Lovely Bones", "Lovely Bones" (originall isn't it?)
Well the band is called Dead and Divine, and I dont know if they're some kind of christian-core but they sure write good music. (not that christian core doesnt sound good in general, I mean, what about Underoath ffs. It's just too bad that they have to labellize the genre after some religious crap.)
Anyways!
I surely like this song though , and my favourite part of the lyrics?
"Lets shoot some drugs and fall in love"

Meaghan Smith

Today's persona, is a cute singer called Meaghan Smith. She caught her dream just a few years ago, despite that she loved singing even as a little girl. I stept onto her music via the movie "500 days of summer" (wonderful, romantic movie btw).

Her music is a romantic blend of folk, piano (the sound of piano is a genre of its own), perhaps a little bit of jazz, swing and hm even indie. It gives you that "singing in the rain" feeling, but it doesnt have to rain though...I think you should give her a try, you will enjoy (unless you are on of those not so openminded peeps)

Her own written album , "The Cricket's Orchestra" which was released last year became a huge success, and after that followed the OST of the "500 days of summer", "Here comes your man".

My personal favourite from her album is "You got out" but "Here comes your man" is an equal winner.

MUSIC is my Emotions

Well well, It's been a while...Way to long...Ive been kinda bussy with other 'important" things and perhaps thats why I left my blog to rest.

Many things have happened since the last time I wrote, things that have affected my Music..not in a bad way though. Just some changes that have occured.

I saw "The Notebook", with Ryan Gosling and Rachel Mc Adams, and realized how romantic and full of emotions love was back then, it had nothing to do with the Contemporary "loves". And so, I fell in love with the 50s. The music, the style, everything. It's funny how a style can be re-reflected into another age and be totally different, for e.g. Rockabilly Dame style. Or the famous Myspace site, "Suicide Girls".

Anyway, enoough with the blahblah.
I will today introduce you to a very speciall artist, Connie Francis. Connie, was born in Italy and her real name was Concetta Rosa Maria Franconera ( perhaps that's why she use an "alias"). Her song "Freddy" led her to an asssignment with a record label, because the owner's son was named Freddy. ( nice to know that, -Hey we didn't take you because of your talent...)anyways.
Here you have her top 5 (by my opinion).

  1. Fallin' (1958) !!! (it's sooo 70's but yet 10 years ahead)
  2. Many years Ago (1960)
  3. My happiness (1959)
  4. You're gonna miss me (1959)
  5. Breaking In a brand New Broken heart (1961)

And then of course there's the famous "Stupid Cupid"
